Two Hundred and Four Illegal Migrants Intercepted at Sea

#TurksandCaicos, July 23, 2023 – Marine Branch Officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force were dispatched yesterday evening (July 22nd ) following information received from the Radar Station, that a suspicious vessel was seen making its way toward Providenciales.

Acting on the information received, at around 10:57 p.m., officers intercepted a 40ft. vessel with two outboard engines.

The illegal migrant vessel was found carrying a total of TWO HUNDRED AND FOUR (204) illegal migrants- FIFTY-TWO (52) FEMALES; and ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO (152) MALES.

The illegal migrants were handed over to the Immigration Task Force.

The RTCIPF can confirm, this is the TWENTY-THIRD interception for the year (July 23rd).  The public is being advised to notify the closest police station, 911, or call TCI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 and give any information on illegal activity anonymously.
