The TCISS Inter-Primary Track & Field Championships return March 29-31, 2023

#TurksandCaicos, March 27, 2023 – Primary school Track & Field athletes are gearing up to compete at the National Stadium, closing out the month of March. It is anticipated that approximately 500 athletes from government-funded and private primary schools around the country will take part in this competition.

As a partnership between the Turks and Caicos Islands Amateur Athletic Association (TCAAA) and the Turks and Caicos Islands Sports Commission (TCISC), three days of events will give budding athletes exposure to structured competition and the opportunity to showcase promising young talent in the sport of Track & Field to the public.

Competition categories include Boys 13 and Under, Girls 13 and Under, Boys 10 and Under, Girls 10 and Under, Boys 8 and Under & Girls 8 and Under.

This year, the championships will feature a healthy breadth of track and field events including Long Jump, Softball Throw, Baseball Throw, Tennis Ball Throw, High Jump, Standing Board Jump, 60m, 80m, 150m, 200m, 400m, 100m, 600m (Open), 800m (Open), 4x60m shuttle relays, Mixed 800 Medley (Open) and 4x100m relays. Invitational 100m and 4x100m relays are also scheduled to take place featuring parents and unattached athletes.

As in previous years, the championships is expected to sell out, with tickets being sold at Adults $10 and Students $5 per day. The TCI Sports Commission is calling on all school supporters to show out in full colour in the stands, creating a safe environment for festivities and the love of sports.
